Italian international Davide Frattesi, says Simone Perrotta and Claudio Marchisio are his two role models for the central midfield role.
The Inter star was asked about his role models in central midfield, and he named two ex-Azzurri stars. “Simone Perrotta and Claudio Marchisio more recently. They are the two players I sometimes look for to understand the best position on the pitch”, he declared. This isn’t surprising, given that Perrotta and Marchisio weren’t just great central midfielders, but often played on the left flank and used late runs to score and provide decisive passes, just as Frattesi does. Perrotta was a starter in Italy’s 2006 World Cup campaign, won by the Azzurri, while Marchisio made 55 appearances for La Nazionale, reaching the Euro final in 2012.
