Fiorentina hosted Juventus on Sunday evening in Serie A matchday 11. The Viola lost 0-1. Surprisingly, the home team didn’t show up for the traditional post-match press conference. The club was keen to explain why.
While one might have thought that Fiorentina didn’t show up for the press conference because of the defeat, the club gave a completely different reason. The absence was simply out of respect for the victims of storm Cianfran, which claimed several lives in Tuscany, near Florence. “Out of respect for all those present and not present, Fiorentina, on this difficult night for all the people of Tuscany, is making no statement,” reads the statement. The club also posted an image of union on its social media with the message, “Fiorentina and President Rocco Commisso unite around the pain of the flood victims.”
