Fiorentina general manager Joe Barone has been in contact with UEFA president Aleksander Cerefin and the European Club Association after Alessandro Bianco was hit by a pitch invader during a 4-1 win over Sivasspor on Thursday.
The incident took place shortly after Gaetano Castrovilli’s goal against Turkish side Sivasspor made the score 4-1 in the 89th minute. A number of Sivasspor fans poured onto the field in frustration at their team’s impending elimination from the Conference League. One fan walked up to the Fiorentina players and punched Bianco in the face, leaving the midfielder with blood dripping from his nose.
According to reports in the Gazzetta dello Sport, Barone has been in contact with UEFA and ECA to ask for clarification on their upcoming investigations. Fiorentina boss Vincenzo Italiano said that Bianco broke his nose after the blow to the face and that he would undergo further assessment by Fiorentina medical staff in the coming days.
