World Cup and Ballon d’Or winner Fabio Cannavaro has announced that he has bought the legendary Paradiso training center used by Diego Armando Maradona in Naples and will be reorganizing the entire area.

Cannavaro and his younger brother Paolo grew up in Naples and went through Naples’s youth academy on their way to Italy’s national team. They are now determined that others will follow in their footsteps, especially after Napoli won the Scudetto with only one Neapolitan in the team. The Centro Paradiso has been virtually abandoned for decades, but all that will change now that Cannavaro has managed to buy the land. “Now, I can say it, the doors of Centro Paradiso are going to open again. I had been trying for 15 years. The plan is to refurbish the pitch, set up a soccer school and get the local children playing soccer. That makes me very happy,” the former Juventus and Real Madrid defender told the Ansa news agency.
