According to reports in Italy, Aston Villa are prepared to pay up to €70 million for Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee.

The central striker is expected to leave the Stadio Dall’Ara at the end of the season, even if the Rossoblu qualify for the Champions League, as they are currently fourth in Serie A. AC Milan are among the favorites for his signature, ready to offer €50 million in cash plus Saelemaekers, with Juventus, Manchester United and Arsenal also interested. However, Il Resto del Carlino newspaper claims that Aston Villa have already been in contact with agent Kia Joorabchian to discuss a move to the Premier League. They would be able to pay the full asking price of €60-70 million, especially if they qualify for the Champions League, and can exceed Bologna’s current salary cap of €2 million per season by doubling that salary. However, it remains to be seen whether Zirkzee would accept a move to the Premier League, especially if the Rossoblu qualify for the Champions League. There is also the question of Bayern Munich to contend with, as they still have a buy-out clause in his contract worth 40 million euros. It is quite possible that the Germans could activate this and then sell Zirkzee at a profit. In any case, Bayern will make money out of it, because they pocket 40% of Bologna’s selling costs.
