Inter Milan defender Skriniar has undergone back surgery and is no longer expected to play for the Nerazzurri, joining PSG as a free agent at the end of the season.

The Slovak international has been unavailable since February due to a fractured lumbar vertebra which he had to operate on last Wednesday. Several reports in Italy, including Sky Sport Italia and Il Corriere dello Sport, claim that the 28-year-old will no longer play for Inter. Skriniar agreed to join PSG as a free agent at the end of his contract with Inter in June and Wednesday’s move likely means he will no longer play for the Nerazzurri before the end of his contract. The former Sampdoria defender posted a photo from the hospital on Thursday with a message for his current club.

“I want to embrace my teammates and thank them for the incredible qualification for the Champions League semifinals and also reassure everyone about my condition after the injury suffered in the first leg against Porto. In agreement with Inter, I underwent a surgical intervention to return to action as soon as possible. A short rehabilitation will follow,” wrote the 28-year-old.
