Inter and Denzel Dumfries are close to signing a new contract extension, despite rumours linking the Dutchman to a departure from the San Siro this summer.

The former PSV man has just under a year left on his current contract with the Nerazzurri, so the club were keen to sell him or sign him to a new deal this summer to avoid losing him as a free agent this time next year. Premier League clubs Manchester United and Aston Villa had been mentioned as possible destinations, but the 28-year-old is now set to stay at AC Milan. Dumfries has reached an agreement in principle with Inter on a new four-year deal, according to several press reports in Italy. Inter are ready to offer him a contract similar to the one signed by left-back Federico Dimarco in the middle of the 2023-24 season, albeit with slightly lower wages. Calciomercato reports that Dumfries is prepared to take home an annual salary of around €4 million on his new deal, which is due to run until the summer of 2028.
