France coach Didier Deschamps praises Milan striker Olivier Giroud for another good start to the season, but admits that Benjamin Pavard’s transfer to Inter could cause tactical problems at international level.
The former Juventus midfielder and tactician held a press conference yesterday and mentioned several of his Blues talents currently plying their trade in Serie A. Among them was Giroud, who is second only to Inter star Lautaro Martinez in the Capocannoniere race, having found the net four times in the first three rounds. “It’s thanks to him, because he’s got the physique that allows him to maintain these levels, he keeps a healthy lifestyle and mentality is also key. Giroud has the desire to stay at the highest level, he showed that last year and has already got off to a good start this season. A few years ago, 35 was the age limit, but today many players are over 40 and still going strong. There have been improvements in medical treatment and training, but you need a state of mind and Olivier has that,” declared Deschamps.
