Giacomo Losi passed away last Sunday at the age of 88, the 3rd most capped player in AS Roma history with 471 appearances, 300 of them with the captain’s armband. For a long time, he topped the list, before being overtaken by Francesco Totti and then Daniele De Rossi. However, at yesterday’s funeral, no member of Roma was present, just a delegation of players from the youth academy.
The situation embarrassed Daniele De Rossi, the giallorossi’s new coach, who was keen to apologize, as the deceased’s son Roberto Losi told Corriere dello Sport: “Daniele wrote to me to express his embarrassment at his absence. There was an obvious miscommunication about the time, day and place of the funeral. He is very sorry not to have informed me directly. I found his apologies sincere.”
