Bryan Cristante reveals that José Mourinho told Roma players that he’s “proud” of them and hopes that the Special One will stay for another season.
The Giallorossi lost the Europa League final on penalties to Sevilla on Wednesday evening. It was Mourinho’s first defeat in a European final as coach. “We’re disappointed, but you know, when you go to penalties, it’s 50-50. We’re disappointed, but also proud of what we’ve done. We’ve reached two European finals in a row, which means there’s something important here. He only said he was proud of us. We’re proud of him too. Obviously, we want him to stay, because he’s an important coach and he’s created something important,” Cristante told DAZN.
Rumors about Mourinho’s future in the capital overshadowed the Giallorossi’s European defeat, but Cristante insisted that the Special One still hadn’t informed the team of his plans for 2023-24. Mourinho is under contract at the Stadio Olimpico until June 2024 .
