Claudio Ranieri spoke to the press ahead of Cagliari’s meeting with Florence. At a time when the club is going through a difficult period, he reiterated that he is working hard to get back on its feet. He called for unconditional support and invited the defeatists to get out of his way.
“I speak to those who have Cagliari in their hearts. When I arrived, I asked for a helping hand from all those who have slowly managed to get back into Serie A. Now we’re two points behind, but 1 point from safety. Today we’ll be relegated and we’ve never won, but so have the other teams. We’re suffering, we’ve played some very strong teams and we’ve got a tough schedule. Last year, up to 5 teams hadn’t won yet. It’s time to recover. I don’t like defeatists! I am not a lightning rod, the boys live to do well and, despite the difficulties, we are working very hard, we are about to get the important people back and get the results. I ask you all to stay close to the team, to criticize us to improve, but rest assured that we will review all the mistakes we make and work on them,” said Ranieri.
