Chris Smalling continues to cause concern at Roma as his tendon inflammation problems persist.
The 33-year-old English central defender hasn’t appeared for the Giallorossi since their 2-1 defeat by AC Milan on September 1. Since then, he has been sidelined by tendonitis, forcing him to miss the club’s last 13 games in Serie A and the Europa League. José Mourinho is increasingly concerned about the situation and now expects Roma to recruit a new defender in the January mercato, believing that Smalling may no longer be up to the job in the capital. As reported by Corriere dello Sport via TMW, Smalling has yet to resume collective training with Roma and is not expected to return to action before the Christmas break, which is frustrating Mourinho.
