Chelsea have decided to end their pursuit of Napoli star Victor Osimhen, focusing instead on Samu Omorodion of Atletico Madrid.
The Blues had been in close contact with the Partenopei for a number of weeks now as the two clubs discussed a possible swap deal involving Romelu Lukaku and a large sum of money. Negotiations proved complicated and slow. Napoli are still targeting Lukaku, regardless of Osimhen’s situation, as they are looking to keep new coach Antonio Conte happy, but need to sell the Nigerian striker before they can invest in a new central striker. According to Gianluca Di Marzio Chelsea have decided to distance themselves completely from Osimhen as they move on to Omorodion, pushing to agree a deal for the Atletico Madrid talent. Paris Saint-Germain are still rivals for the Napoli striker, and Arsenal could also return to the fray. There’s interest in Saudi Arabia, but the 25-year-old isn’t convinced by the idea.
