Inter midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu suffered a suspected muscle injury during the first half of Turkey’s match against Croatia on Tuesday.

The Turkish international was substituted before the break. He appears to have suffered a muscle injury in his left thigh and was replaced by Ismail Yuksek. The former AC Milan midfielder may have to undergo medical checks in Milan in the coming days when he returns from international duty. Calhanoglu has played a key role for Simone Inzaghi’s Inter this season, with three goals and six assists in 36 appearances in all competitions. He joined the Nerazzurri as a free agent and his current contract runs until June 2024. However, the Serie A giants are in advanced talks to extend his contract at the Stadio Meazza.

Inter meet Fiorentina at the San Siro on Saturday, April 1, in the first Serie A match after the international break. They will travel to Juventus on April 4 in the first leg of the Coppa Italia semi-finals.
