Balthazar Pierret made his Serie A debut yesterday against Atalanta, the French midfielder lining up in a two-man midfield in front of the defense and being replaced at half-time by Lassana Coulibaly. Pierret arrived at Lecce this summer from Quevilly-Rouen, having been one of the best midfielders in the last Ligue 2 despite his former club’s relegation.
He has thus gone from Ligue 2 to facing a team qualified for the Champions League. Aged 24, Pierret replaces captain Alexis Blin, another Frenchman, who has left for Palermo, and his new team will be counting on him in midfield.
