Atalanta have agreed to sell defender Merih Demiral to Al-Ahli for 20 million euros.

According to Sky Sport Italia and Foot Mercato, the two clubs have reached a complete agreement and the player has accepted personal conditions. Fanatik reports that the cost of the transfer will be around €20 million, and Turkish international Demiral will sign a three-year contract worth €11 million per season. It had been clear for some months that Demiral was not going to stay with Atalanta, as his relationship with coach Gian Piero Gasperini had broken down and he spent much of last season on the bench. Inter had hoped to bring in the 25-year-old as a replacement for Milan Skriniar, but the asking price of €20 million was too high for them. There was also interest from Premier League teams, but Demiral is now heading for the Saudi Pro League.
