Roma midfielder Houssem Aouar has been diagnosed with a left thigh adductor injury.
The Algerian international was part of the starting eleven for Roma’s midweek Europa League win over Sheriff Tiraspol at the Stadio Olimpico. He suffered a muscle problem in the first half and was replaced at half-time. Tests have now revealed an injury to the adductor muscle of his left thigh. This type of injury usually requires several weeks’absence, of the order of a month, so Aouar is unlikely to return to action before 2024. He joins Paulo Dybala, Chris Smalling, Marash Kumbulla and Tammy Abraham in the infirmary. However, the good news for José Mourinho is that Sardar Azmoun is in the squad for the clash with Bologna. Leonardo Spinazzola and Gianluca Mancini are also in the squad, but Romelu Lukaku is suspended following his red card in the 1-1 draw with Fiorentina.
