Adrien Rabiot showed his full support after Max Allegri was sacked by Juventus, insisting “you deserved a different farewell”. Rabiot was most closely linked with Allegri and had already hinted in recent months that his decision to stay at Juve would also be influenced by who was on the bench.
So when Allegri was sacked with two games remaining, just days after winning the Coppa Italia for the fifth time, it hurt some more than others. “You will be remembered as one of the most successful coaches in Juventus’s history. You deserved a different kind of farewell. Thank you for everything Sir and good luck,” Rabiot wrote on Instagram. The midfielder had joined Juventus as a free agent from Paris Saint-Germain and was in a position to leave for free last summer, but decided to sign a one-year extension, despite the club’s exclusion from European competition due to financial irregularities. The French international is now in the same situation, and is expected to leave now that Allegri has been sacked.
