According to Sky Sport Italia, AC Milan will choose a Portuguese coach for next season, with Sergio Conceicao leading the way, followed by Ruben Amorim and Paulo Fonseca.
The Rossoneri were close to signing Julen Lopetegui before facing backlash from fans, who set up a petition to block the move and led a social media campaign with the hashtag #Nopetegui. Owner Gerry Cardinale and advisor Zlatan Ibrahimovic are now thought to be leaning towards Portugal. Sky Sport Italia suggests the shortlist is three men, all from Portugal, with Sergio Conceicao topping the list. He is expected to leave FC Porto at the end of the season, despite having a contract until June 2028, due to the chaos behind the scenes at the club. Conceicao has the advantage of being very familiar with Italian soccer and also speaks the language, having played in Serie A for Lazio, Parma and Milan rivals Inter. As a coach, he has won three Primeira Liga titles, three editions of the Taça de Portugal, one Taça da Liga and three Supercups. Other candidates for AC Milan are current Sporting boss CP Amorim, who had been close to Liverpool before leaning towards Arne Slot, and former Roma coach Fonseca, currently in France with LOSC.
