La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that AC Milan are ready to extend Mike Maignan’s contract, especially after Stefano Pioli and Olivier Giroud declared that the French international can become the leader of the dressing room in the years to come.

AC Milan are ready to sit down with French international Maignan to offer him a contract extension and an improved salary. La Gazzetta dello Sport claims that the Rossoneri directors will offer Maignan a pay rise, so that his sale in the summer is out of the question. Maignan earns 3.2 million euros per season and has never signed a contract extension since joining AC Milan in 2021. He is expected to become one of the team’s highest earners, but the report doesn’t mention how much he will be offered. Earlier reports claimed that Maignan had demanded the same wages as Rafael Leao. The Portuguese striker is the highest paid at the San Siro, with a salary of €7 million a year, including add-ons. Pioli and Giroud both crowned Maignan as potential dressing room boss in their post-match interviews on Saturday, which were their last at the club. According to Gazzetta, this means that AC Milan will offer Maignan a new deal and will not consider any offers for the Frenchman this summer. Theo Hernandez or Rafael Leao, on the other hand, could leave the Rossoneri, but only if the Serie A giants receive suitable offers.
