AC Milan owner Gerry Cardinale has been in Italy this week conducting numerous meetings with representatives of the club and various parts of the city as plans for a new stadium get underway.

On Friday afternoon, Lombardy Governor Attilio Fontana told TV Play that his recent meeting with the founder of RedBird Capital had been positive and productive. The governor told the press. According to reports in La Repubblica, AC Milan plans to build a three-tiered 70,000-seat stadium in the La Maura neighborhood, a relative stone’s throw from San Siro on the outskirts of the city. AC Milan mayor Giuseppe Sala had previously given AC Milan a two-week deadline to return with formal proposals for a new stadium planned for the city. With that deadline fast approaching, Cardinale and the Milan board will be working hard to ensure that official plans are submitted accordingly.
