AC Milan are reportedly close to finalizing a deal for Serbian talent Matija Popovic on a free transfer from Partizan Belgrade.
The 17-year-old, who turns 18 on January 8, is now in the final week of his contract in the Serbian capital and will officially become an autonomous player on January 1. Calciomercato.com reports that AC Milan have reached agreement with Popovic and his entourage on a five-year deal, which will run until the summer of 2029. Popvic will visit AC Milan in the first two weeks of the new year and will officially put pen to paper on his AC Milan contract shortly afterwards. There was also an attempt to intervene on the part of Manchester City, recent world club champions, but their interest only intensified AC Milan’s desire to conclude a deal for Popovic. Now that these two issues have been resolved, Popovic should become an AC Milan player in the coming weeks.
