Rafael Leao admits that AC Milan are “looking forward” to Saturday’s Derby della Madonnina clash with Inter.
The Portuguese talent was present at last night’s Premio Gentleman event to win the prize for goal of the season, the third scored in the Rossoneri’s 4-0 victory over Napoli at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona. He could well be in contention for the award again next year, having kicked off the season with an acrobatic volley against Roma .
“I’d been trying for a while to score an aerial kick and it was a wonderful moment when it finally arrived, especially as I’d never scored at the Stadio Olimpico. For a player, an overhead kick is the most satisfying way to score. I’m not a selfish player, so I try to do the right thing when I hire men, whether it’s to score or to help a team-mate. I always check if someone is in the right position for the pass. The derby was always a great game and both teams are motivated. Me and all my team-mates are looking forward to this match. May the best team win,” declared Leao. Inter dominated the derby last season, winning four in a row between Serie A, the Supercoppa Italiana and the Champions League semi-final, all without conceding a goal.
