Fiorentina owner Rocco Commisso was recently featured in CBS’s 60 Minutes, discussing life between Italy and America, his financial investment in La Viola and his “control” over the Tuscan club. In the feature interview, which was broadcast in the United States, Commisso regularly referred to himself in the third person and described himself as a “hustler. He also recalled that due to his large personal expenses since buying the club for 170 million euros in 2019, the Mediacom founder isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
“A hustler always finds a way to achieve a certain goal. Don’t give up. Don’t take no for an answer. Commisso, who also owns New York Cosmos, also spoke about the fan culture in Italy and the reception he often gets when Fiorentina doesn’t get the results they hope for. There is no one here who has invested the money I have invested in a short time, and I go back to the Medici 500 years ago. If I lose 400-500 m, I will not go back to washing dishes as when I was young, “said Commisso to CBS.
Commisso also took CBS on a quick tour of Fiorentina’s new training center, which is still under development and is expected to be completed in 2024. Currently ninth in the Serie A table and 11 points ahead of the division’s top four teams, Commisso still has work to do if he is to deliver Fiorentina’s first Scudetto title since 1969 during his reign.
